Unicorn contact lenses are now available on prescription in the United States

Unicorn contact lens sales hit a record high in 2018, with the most recent numbers from the US Food and Drug Administration showing that 3.2 million unicorn contacts were sold, with more than half of those coming from the United Kingdom.
Unicorn contact glasses are now sold in all 50 states, according to data from the FDA.
In 2018, the US spent more than $2.1 billion on unicorn contact lenses.
The US spent $1.1 trillion on prescription glasses in 2018.
The U.K. was the most expensive country to buy unicorn contact lens lenses in 2018 with $3.1 million, followed by the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.
Unicorn glasses sold for a total of $3,821 per unicorn, which is nearly double the $1,839 per unicorn cost in 2018 for prescription glasses.
In a statement, the FDA said the new numbers show the health of the U,S.
and the world is “moving in the right direction,” and said the growth is due in part to the increased availability of the glasses.
“In 2018, prescription glasses accounted for more than a third of all contact lens revenue, and we expect that this trend will continue into 2019,” the FDA stated.
“As the United states continues to grow, we anticipate more demand for unicorn contact glasses and more consumers purchasing them.”
According to the FDA, there are now more than 2.6 million prescriptions filled for unicorn glasses.
